Red Head

H&M Blouse, Zara Jeans, Cole Haan Loafers, Forever 21 Bracelet and Earrings

New Yorkers get a bad rap for always wearing head-to-toe black.  While this is certainly something I become more guilty of in the cold winter months, I spotted these jeans a few weeks ago and thought they'd be a great way to mix up the darker color palette I naturally gravitate to in the winter.  Instant mood-lifter!

How do you cheer yourself up in the winter?

Wish List

I don't know if it's the weather, the past few weeks or just a cumulative feeling of the winter blahs but I've been having a bit of a hard time finding inspiration.  To jump-start my low levels of energy, I've been on the hunt for a few things to elevate me back to my normal self.   Today, my biggest wish is to wish for nothing at all and simply take pleasure in my surroundings and a few beautiful details. Because let's face it, no one likes a Debbie Downer.

For quite some time I've been on the hunt for a simple gold ring that will go with basically everything.  For those of you who haven't yet heard of the online site called Etsy, it's a truly fabulous place to score vintage and homemade one-of-a-kind jewelry, stationary and almost anything else you can possibly imagine.

These are made by a very talented jewelry designer who's Etsy shop is called Lucky Staar.  I've always been attracted to unique pieces of jewelry that have a very clean line and her designs fit my style to a 'T'.  The designer, Lilly Thomas has very graciously offered a 10% discount by simply mentioning the "luckyme" coupon code when purchasing one of your very own.  I may never take mine off.

Romantic Getaway

There are just certain fabrics out there I slip into and automatically feel incredibly romantic.  Wispy chiffon or delicate tulle makes me go all mushy inside,  instant Notebook-esque feelings emerge.  Well, that and I happen to be the biggest Ryan Gosling fan.  Perhaps it's only in the dead of winter when I most crave the lightest, least-warm fabrics possible.  I always seem to want what I can't have.  Do you ever have that problem?

Wish List

In the past few months, I have seen Equipment blouses everywhere I look.  At my favorite stores, on my favorite bloggers and in my favorite magazines.  My, I have a lot of favorites.  I've been obsessing over the cut and the truly fantastic prints I've seen them in.  Ignore the price tag, I certainly try to. But, I promise I've found you all some great alternatives.  And, there is always the lottery...

The past weekend I stopped by H&M and among a few other purchases snagged this exact black button-down.  A great basic that goes with practically everything in my wardrobe.  I'm usually all about the excess but couldn't pass up this great deal.

Last, but not least.  How absolutely adorable are those stars?  Major want.

Blue Skies

`

Readers, I don't know about you but I'm certainly guilty sometimes of not taking time to step back and fully appreciating my surroundings.  I was walking through Grand Central Station the other morning to the subway and paused for a minute to take in the true beauty of the building.  Only then did I look up and realize the ceiling is the most magnificent teal color with breathtaking stencils of constellations.  Which naturally got me thinking...

(Emily Schuman, of my very favorite blog: cupcakesandcashmere.com)

(Diane Von Furstenburg Mint jacket)

(The most fabulous pair of teal shoes I may have ever seen)

I hope you all are able to take a step back in the next several days and find beauty in something as simple as I have.

I've never been a bag girl.  Ever.  Don't ask me why, I've just always chose to spend the money on a new pair of fabulous shoes, not bags.  Bags have just never done it for me.  However,  I spotted this clutch on Forever 21's website and thought how fun it would be for a night out.  I'm always trying to minimize my somehow impressive knack for carrying around what feels like a suitcase and hopefully this will help me compartmentalize.

It has an adorable little chain so you can mix it up, depending on how you want to wear it.  I've also recently become a huge fan of color-blocking colors you would never have paired together in the past.  These and my red skinnies are going to become great friends.

Readers, I've had quite a week and not enough hours in the day.  My biggest wish right this very minute involves a beach, a book and very little technology.

Would you care to join me?

Forever 21 Earrings, $4.80; Similar Version Here

Readers, last week I had what I like to call a "blogger epiphany."  I've decided each week I'm going to scour the city in search of fabulous wardrobe-building finds for all of you, and showcase a new item each week being under a very reasonable $10 price tag.  Be sure to stay on the look out!

According to Lucky Magazine (my personal bible), the best way to wear neon this spring will be in small doses.  If you work in a somewhat conservative office such as I do, incorporating this trend in this fashion is the perfect representation.  These earrings felt very 70's, and I personally can't wait to pair them with my bright red skinnies for an extra pop of unexpected color.

Marni for H&M

Marni, best known for it's bohemian influences and idiosyncratic prints will design a collection in collaboration with H&M this Spring.  If it's anything like past collections with other designers such as Versace, Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfield (you get the picture), it goes without saying I simply can't wait to see the unveiling.  Here is a sneak peak I stumbled upon today. I'm loving all the different prints I'll get to choose from.

Just another reason why I can't wait for Spring.

Wish List: Fur Real

Christian Louboutin, $1,549

For me personally, I honestly can't wish bigger than a pair of Christian Louboutins.  I may or may not even say the mans names with reverence, you have to give the guy the utmost respect if you're as big of a shoe whore as I happen to be.  Don't worry, it may sound weird to those who don't understand but I've come to terms with it.

While I love faux fur as much as the rest of them, I do admit I've never been opposed to the real deal.  PETA would have my head.  It goes without saying this beautiful pair of Louboutins is so far out of my price range it's almost laughable, but I have found a few luxuriously furry items if you happen to feel like treating yourself with that Christmas cash.

Elton John, in the most fabulous white fur hat.  You must admit, the man made it work.  As soon as I'd put one of these on, I always feel like I should be jetting off to some fabulous city in Russia.  So, so fun.

Rabbit Fur Fingerless gloves @ Intermix, $98

TopShop Jacket, $170

Happy Fur or Faux-fur hunting.

Faux Real

As the temperatures in New York the past few days have hovered around 10 degrees, I've been struggling to figure out ways to stay warm, but fashionably so.  One of my co-workers who I've now faux-hired as my fashion consultant suggested a post about faux fur.  Genius, don't you think?  She happens to be one of the most fashionable people I know, and I can't wait to showcase some of her greatest fashion moments.

I'm a huge fan of fur in general, and the faux stuff is a great and less expensive alternative to the real deal.  Also, makes me feel like such a more moral and ethical person.  While I can't think of anything more impractical than a look involving an over the top fur and swimsuit, it did provide me with excellent inspiration.  That girl looks like she is in for a very sexy time, and I can't help but wonder what in the world she's attending in that outfit.

Juicy Couture Vest, $139

I've been looking for ages for a fabulous furry vest.  It's been more difficult than I imagined.  For those of you on the petite side, one that can be belted would look the most figure flattering.

Cynthia Rowley Leopard Print Faux, $177

You all know my adoration for all things leopard print.

Zara Booties, $50

Zara gloves, $49

Fur Ever Boot Toppers @Bloomingdales, $22

If you're on as strict of a budget as I am, these boot toppers are incredibly versatile and would look fab over my new Zara booties which, are currently faux-furless.  Obsessed.

A New York New Years Eve

French Connection Dress $125, Nine West blue suede Peep Toe pumps $99

The boyfriend and I were lucky enough to be invited to a party at a loft in Soho last night to ring in 2012.  As much fun as Time Square sounded, I was not in the mood to wear a diaper (seriously).  After scouring through several stores I finally found the perfect New Years dress at French Connection.   I had one requirement, sequins. Check!

Happy 2012!
